Bar Code Placement
Maintaintherequiredquietzonearoundthe
actualbarcode,asshownintheillustration.
Locatebarcodesatleast0.25inch(6.3mm)
fromotherprintingandfromtheedgeofthe
card.
Forbestresults,orientthecardsothebarsare
paralleltothelongedgesofthecard,asshown.
Thisorientationmostaccuratelyprints
readablebarcodes.
Bar Code Size
Alowerdensitybarcodeiseasiertoread,becausethebarsarewiderand
spacedfartherapart.
Thewidthofthenarrowelementsinthebarcodemustbelargeenoughtobe
readconsistently.Thecapabilitiesofthebarcodereadermightinfluencethis.
Thebarcodemustbetallenoughtobereadundernormalconditions.

Toachievethebestqualityprintingandimprovethereadabilityofthebar
code,usetheK(black)panelofcolorprintribbontoprinttheblackbars.Bar
codesprintedwithYMCpanelsarenotascrispandsharpasthoseprinted
withKonly.
InfraredreadersrequirethattheKpanelbeusedtoprintthebarcode.
Barcodesareusuallymorereadablewhentheyareprintedwithlesspower.
TheANSIstandardforbarcodequality(X3.182)assignsagradetoabarcode
toindicateitsreadability.ChooseaKpowervalueandbarcodesizeto
